Lexi and Jacob wanted the beach feels of the Tofino coast line in Vancouver. As a Vancouver photographer you dream of photographing the beaches of Tofino. Unfortunately, for us Chesterman beach is about a 5 hour drive away from our front door and a 2 hour ferry ride. For an engagement photography sessions we have found it harder to convince couples to make the trek out though we are still working on it!
After some creative brainstorming and google map scouting we found a beach that resembles the sandy South Chesterman Beach. So, we took off just across the border to Point Roberts Washington. This little inlet is fully surrounded by Canada but is technically the United States. Being disconnected by means of water and a border makes this little inlet a private oasis for taking photos. The best part was there were no ferry rides involved.
And let me tell you, THE VIBES WERE IMMACULATE.
For this gallery we blended a mixture a classic edits and a 35mm vintage edit. In a vintage edit you will see more blue in the highlights emulating that classic film look. Being that it was a slightly cooler spring day the vintage edits really highlighted the mood.
That being said we are all suckers for a nice clean white in a photo. SO we made sure our classic edit really highlighted Lexi's white dress.
I think blending these two styles is something I am going to continue to try to master behind the scenes and continue to bring a little nostalgic film to each session 🙂
We still are dreaming of the day when we can shoot an engagement session along Chesterman Beach but in the mean time Point Roberts filled the part very well!
